A grand day out on Skiddaw (931m)

We set out on a perfect day to walk over Skiddaw. First we
tackled the long ridge over Ullock Pike, then a bite to eat
to gain energy before the final steep push onto the summit.
From here we headed down & north via waterfalls.

Helvellyn for Leighton Cook
Today I have been privileged to
guide 10 friends of Leighton
up Helvellyn. This was to raise
money so he can undergo treatment in Germany
for a rare form of leukaemia called neuroblastoma.

Happy 4th Birthday Leighton

Flooding on Ullswater
After 36hrs of rain Ullswater was in spate, however still not as bad as the floods in Jan 2009. This picture was taken from Ullswater Steamers' Glenridding car park (click on photo for more pictures) where we found Sean of Wild River running a canoe course and making use of the extra water. Helvellyn in the mist
We headed up to Lantys Tarn and walked into the cloud before reaching Birkhouse Moor. Once on a dry Striding Edge we had a quick lunch stop before making Helvellyn summit (950m). After negotiating a snowy Swirral Edge the cloud lifted and we headed for Catstye Cam (890m). Then onto Glenridding where we tried Doris & Helvellyn Gold in The Travellers Rest. Posted by Picasa
